We often hear from schools that feel they are excluded from the lottery funding process and we are delighted to be able to shout out loud and clear that we know this is not the case!
We have been in receipt of funding for our 'Fruit Full schools' programme for two years now and we are delighted that we have made it through to the semi-finals of the 'Education Project' category in the 2012 National Lottery Awards!
We will need your help though, getting to the next stage is dependant on the public vote (yes, it gets everywhere!!) so please do lend us your support and cast your vote for this amazing school grounds project.
Voting for the finals starts at 9am on Tuesday 26 June and ends at midnight on Sunday 22 July. To register your vote for Fruit-full Schools call 0844 836 9684 or click here to vote for free online. For more information about the project see the Fruit-full Schools project website www.fruitfullschools.org
More and more schools are learning how to make the most of their pupil premium for enhancing support in teaching and learning for more vulnerable children.
Combining additional teaching assistant support with quality learning opportunities out of doors can be a very effective way to engage those pupils who find traditional teaching scenarios a bit more challenging.
Often a single solution doesn't provide all of the answers and it is important to consider not just the quality of the teaching but the nature of the environment in which learning is happening. Just being sat at a desk inside a classroom can be a barrier to learning for some children.
