National School Grounds Week is LTL’s annual campaign to show just how easy – and worthwhile - it can be to take teaching and learning outdoors. Research tells us that learning beyond the classroom is often more memorable and helps children make sense of their learning. In fact, Ofsted said, “When planned and implemented well, learning outside the classroom contributes significantly to raising standards and improving pupils’ personal, social and emotional development.”
This year we're teaming up with Waste Watch and Keep Britain Tidy's Eco Schools to deliver a week long programme of ideas, inspiration and support for schools and early years settings across the UK.
When: Monday 10th - Friday 14th June 2013 |
Where: your school grounds or outdoor space! |
Each day will explore the different types of resources we waste and will offer schools the opportunity to come up with some creative recycling ideas and discussion topics suitable for early years, primary and secondary children.
The themes for each day will be:
Monday: Time
Tuesday: Water
Wednesday: Fabric
Thursday: Paper
Friday: Food
A photo competition will enable schools and settings to share and celebrate their lesson activities on-line. Full details about the competition are included in the downloadable resources. .
