The Programmes team manage a range of initiatives, both national and regional, which work with key groups within school communities.
All of these initiatives seek to promote and enhance the development, use and value of school grounds in diverse and innovative ways.
Grounds for Improvement
Grounds for Improvement was an exciting initiative aiming to demonstrate the value of a commitment to good practice in school grounds improvement and outdoor play provision by working with a targeted group of schools from across England.
School Grounds of the Future
School Grounds of the Future was an exciting programme of support which demonstrated how school grounds can be transformed and managed as high quality environments for the benefit of children's learning and development.
National School Grounds Week
National School Grounds Week is our annual celebration of school grounds. This week of focused activity encourages schools and early years settings in all parts of the UK to get outside and use their grounds and outdoor spaces.
Sense of Time and Place
Sense of Time and Place was the name given to a special national pilot project aimed at engaging young people (11-18yrs) and secondary schools in their heritage.
Secondary Research
What sort of school grounds do secondary pupils want? How can school grounds development projects benefit the curriculum and boost achievement and motivation? How can secondary schools get pupils involved in school grounds development?
GIS Pilot
GIS is a software package that electronically captures data gathered from surveying. LTL worked with ESRI (UK) and three secondary schools to test the concept for using GIS as a tool to map school grounds.
Hearts and Minds
Hearts and Minds follows on from the success of Sense of Time and Place, again working with secondary school communities engaging with local heritage.
