Risk and challenge in the outdoors
June 4 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Join us for a full hour considering risk and challenge in schools, early years and childcare.
This webinar does not look at the paperwork, instead, it considers the current and future culture, around our approach to risk and challenge.
We are pleased that special guest Tim Gill will be joining us for this webinar, author of “No Fear – growing up in a risk-averse society” and the yet to be published “Urban Playground”.
We will cover:
1. the benefits of children experiencing risk and challenge
2. the current culture of risk aversion and how we got here
3. how do you judge what risk and challenge is acceptable?
4. how do you change the culture around risk and challenge, for our learners, our staff and our parents?
Our advice will follow good practice and National Guidance from the Outdoor Education Advisors Panel (OEAP), Scottish Advisory Panel for Outdoor Education (SAPOE), Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), Department for Education (DfE) and more. Your trainers include LtL staff who hold IOSH Managing Safely and 20 years experience managing risk in the outdoors.
The main content will be followed by a question and answer session to our panel.
This webinar will be streamed on Facebook and uploaded to YouTube shortly after.
Anyone who registers will receive a follow up pack of information, references and useful tools.
