Weaving a narrative together

Weaving a narrative together

The great thing about creating artworks outdoors is that they become public works of art!

To celebrate the end of our topic in literacy we decided to turn a disused fence on the edge of the playground into an art gallery to show what we had learnt from reading the Lighthouse Keepers Lunch. We used recycled plastic bags to create a backdrop – of sand, sea and sky and added laminated pictures of underwater creatures we had read about in the story. We finished off the scene with a giant plastic octopus.

This was a great way to bring together everything we had been learning about and as it was only temporary art it allowed the children free reign to let their imaginations loose. It has been up for a while now and no one has touched it – the children have taken great ownership over it and are very proud.
