About Dan
When did you start working for LtL and what does your job involve?
I started working for LtL in April 2021.
My main focus is LtL’s training offer, growing and developing our training and consultancy business throughout the UK and internationally. This covers all kinds of different areas including launching and promoting new services, managing and developing customer relationships, and building and nurturing external partnerships. Above all, it’s about ensuring that as many teachers and education professionals as possible are given the skills and confidence they need to take learning outdoors.
The 3 experiences that have best equipped you for this role?

Working in marketing for the majority of my career, I’ve developed a wide range of skills from the analytical to the creative, but ultimately it all comes down to understanding human behaviour and what makes people tick.

Spending some (very intensive) time in teacher training, I learned a great deal about how schools operate today, how children think and learn and, perhaps most importantly, I developed a real understanding of what life is like for a teacher.

Watching my two children go through school, experiencing and enjoying being out in the open with them, and feeling incredibly proud of how much they care about the environment has really underlined to me the importance of the outdoors in children’s lives.

Dan’s LtL Experience
What has been your best day at LtL and why?
I’ve only recently started at LtL, so I’m sure there’ll be some particularly special days to come, but what I’m really loving at the moment is the variety. Most of my days involve a combination of things like taking part in training, working on a project with a great team, developing systems and processes, and a bit of creative thinking. And seeing the good work that we do as an organisation makes it all the more worthwhile.

Why a dog lead?
Even though I know that going for a walk or a run will always make me feel better physically and mentally, it can be too easy to tell myself I don’t have time or I just don’t feel like it. Having two dogs who need plenty of exercise stops me making excuses and forces me to get my regular dose of time out in nature.
