This is an autumn term outdoor learning timetable only currently under development for Scottish schools- which will be full of progressive ideas to make the best use of the outdoor spaces you have within the school grounds. It will complement work done indoors while encouraging social distancing and smaller social bubble groups.
We will provide a weekly plan related to the core curricular areas of:-
- Social Sciences,
Written by teachers and educators, this plan will contain clear curricular links for each lesson, brief overview, list the (minimal) resources needed and methods for recording and assessing. The weekly timetable will support at a minimum 30% of the day outdoors for every class.
Every session is aimed at teachers with little or no outdoor learning experience. The resources needed will be typical of ones that schools already own, with no specialist outdoor equipment required beyond a waterproof and some gathering space.
The sessions will be tailored to ensure that whether your school has a forest of trees or a forest of concrete, the lessons will work.
You will be supplied with a half-term overview and month of detailed planning, at least two weeks in advance.
As a bonus for primary schools, we will also supply ideas for stimulating play through the autumn term. A combination of ideas this too will be supplied alongside the formal learning timetable.
The products available will be:
- Lower Primary – Outdoor learning and play timetable.
- Middle Primary – Outdoor learning and play timetable.
- Upper Primary – Outdoor learning and play timetable.
- Lower Secondary – Outdoor learning timetable (available per subject)
Currently in development, we are seeking a few schools and authorities in Scotland to engage with trials and feedback. Any authority supporting us early in this will receive a significant discount. This product will be available to purchase shortly.
Note that our Year of Outdoor Homework is available free.
