Taking Learning Outdoors

Taking Learning Outdoors

Learning outdoors is a powerful and engaging tool that can be used throughout the curriculum. With confidence and planning, every school playground can become a rich and accessible classroom for all teachers.

This is our foundation programme, which typically runs as a full or half day in school, and is packed with practical ideas and support for all your staff to try out with learners.

This course will also give your whole staff an insight into some of the solutions that other schools in UK have implemented to support their staff.

If you have outdoor learning on your development plan, you need this training programme!

During the training day we will:

  • Explore the reasons for taking learning and teaching outdoors - how itcan benefit both pupils and teachers.
  • Try out simple, cost effective, tried and tested lesson ideas to bring all areas of the curriculum to life - not just the usual suspects!
  • Look at how other schools have taken lessons outdoors - across topics and age groups.
  • Share ideas and good practice and allow you to start to prepare a lesson to take back to your own school - looking atplanning and evaluating learning outdoors.

Please come dressed appropriately for the weather (wellies and waterproofs if wet, layers scarves and hats if cold!) as we will be outside, no matter the weather.
