Our Summer Schools Offer
Following months of remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, many schools are looking to help their pupils make up for some of their missed education. Summer school provision with an academic focus and plenty of time outdoors has the potential to help pupils do this.
The Department for Education (DfE) estimates that, in the first half-term of Autumn 2020, some pupils were up to 2 months behind on their reading and up to around 3 months behind on their maths. Anecdotal evidence also indicates that children and young people’s mental health has suffered during lockdown, and that some pupils haven’t been able to access a garden or a safe, outdoor space.
With a survey from Natural England finding that 6 in 10 children have spent less time outdoors since the start of the pandemic, our summer school offer gives pupils the chance to learn outdoors and reconnect with nature.
If you’re looking to deliver summer school provision with an academic focus, Learning through Landscapes can support you to deliver high-quality outdoor learning. You can read more about summer school provisions and how we can help you in the DfE summer schools guidance on GOV.UK.
