About Kirsty

When did you start working for LtL and what does your job involve?

I started working for LtL at the beginning of May 2017.

I started at LtL as Office Administrator, which in a nutshell means that I make sure everyone has everything they need to do their job. Whether it’s ordering resources, answering the phone, making sure paperwork is in order, general admin on a variety of projects or booking travel and accommodation. There is never a dull moment!

After a spell of maternity cover for the post, I was then appointed as the Local School Nature Grants Project Officer.  I really enjoy it.  No two days are the same.  LSNG is a great project, helping schools start their outdoor learning journey and increasing their outdoor learning confidence.

The 3 experiences that have best equipped you for this role?

I left school not really having any great career aspirations and fell into a YTS business administration day release training. Since then I’ve worked in a variety of office based roles, including sales and human resources. My first job was office junior and was mostly making tea and doing the filing! I found that I really enjoyed the filing and loved the organisation element of it. I love organising things to this day and am never far from a notebook or a to do list!

Since having my children I have discovered that they don’t sound as loud outside as they do indoors! I used to find the walls of my home would start to close in if we didn’t leave the house at least once a day. Sometimes it was for all day other times it was for a slow walk (push or toddle) around the block. I found the change of scenery, fresh air and generally being outdoors really restorative, plus fresh air seemed to make my babies sleepy (bonus)!

My last two places of employment have been charities. I really like that my work contributes positively and/or makes a direct difference to young people and their families.

Kirsty’s LtL Experience

What has been your best day at LtL and why?

I work in the Winchester office with really the nicest group of people, so everyday is a good day. My first full staff meeting (which included our office from Stirling) was a super positive experience. Being in a room with people who are so enthused, professional and passionate about the outdoors was, and continues to be infectious.

Why choose your canine companion?

My photo is of three of my most specials plus our furry companion. They, human and canine, have inexhaustible energy and are most happy when out and about exploring (and sniffing) the world around them.
